Stealth Assassin Game ‘Aragami’ Announced
A very cool looking new stealth action game named Aragami was announced recently for release on PS4 and PC.
The game was previously announced as Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows, however after 2 years of development and evolution was renamed as Aragami.
Playing as an undead assassin with supernatural powers, Aragami was once a mighty warrior, yet was somehow defeated. Brought back from the dead by a noble girl (named Yamiko, from the sacred citadel of Kyuryu), you must stab and stealth your way through a heavily guarded city in hopes of recovering your memory, how you were defeated, and why Yamiko has decided to summon you from the grave.
The game lists strong influences as titles like Mark of the Ninja, Dishonoured and the Tenchu Saga, and it’s easy to see why.
A colourful cell-shaded graphic style with a blend of stalking, hiding in shadows, fluid assassinations and supernatural powers; it certainly looks the part.
The game is boasting the ability to control the shadows – allowing yourself to become invisible – along with teleportation and other shadow based abilities you can use to take on your enemies. The trailer shows this in action, with Aragami using shadows as cover to sneak up on enemies, teleportation to swoop in and quickly take people out, as well as an awesome looking shadow dragon which seems to devour some poor bloke. It looks like there’s a lot of potential for creative gameplay.
Additionally, multiple paths and playstyles are teased – suggesting you may be able to attempt the game undetected or as violently as possible.
It’s looking exciting, to say the least, and I’m hoping the blend of stealth gameplay and supernatural abilities will allow for some really cool and creative methods of play. The mystical Japanese setting and aesthetic is also intriguing, with the developers mentioning there are influences from other Asian cultures and mythos as well.
Aragami is due for release sometime in autumn this year on PS4 and PC.
