Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new Brazilian themed update next week dubbed cheerily as “Operation Skull Rain”.

From Brazil’s “Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais” (or the heck of a lot easier acronym BOPE for short) come Caveira and Capitão. Caveira is a defensive Operator who possesses the “Silent Step” skill, enabling her to sneak around to immobilize and then interrogate enemy players into revealing teammates’ locations. She’ll carry either an M12 or SPAS-15 for primary weapons, a PRB92 secondary and the Nitro Cell or barbed wire for gadgets. On the flip side attacker Capitão will come equipped with a tactical crossbow that can launch “asphyxiating bolts that burn oxygen within a certain radius”, as well as tiny smoke grenades to mask positions and team movements. His primary will be an M-249 or PARA-308, PRB92 secondary (same as Caveira) and can arm himself the standard frag or stun grenades. As with previous updates the new content will also include a new map, this time set in the famous Brazilian favela/urban slum and promised to be the games most destructible map to date.

Season 3 of the content will also include tweaks and improvements to the overall experience. The biggest is a “Tactical Realism mode” which takes the hardcore experience even further as it prevents players from marking enemies as well as allowing only the in-game timer, compass, gadget and players weapon panels to be visible in the screen HUD. Topping off the mode it will remove kill confirmations and feature a more realistic magazine management system (empty a clip with bullets in, and you’ll lose them).

A new weapon add-on being made available should see a change in gameplay. The angled grip will make the snap between hipfire and ADS much faster. Perfect for players who want to play quicker. Finally the much needed “surrender system” is being introduced allowing a team to throw in the towel during ranked matches by vote. Ideal for those rounds where your attacking team gets wiped out, leaving you to try for an ace …or not. On top of that, Ubisoft have implemented fixes for animation clipping, the replay system accuracy, exploitable glitches a brand new anti-cheating system to our game ccalled “BattlEye”.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Skull Rain expansion is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on Tuesday August 2nd. All the content will be free, however the new Operators will be instantly available to Season Pass holders and be exclusive for the first seven days of launch. More details on the content and footage will be revealed during the Season Two Xbox Pro League Finals livestream on July 30th.
