#E32016 Warhammer: Dawn of War 3 Gets First Gameplay Trailer

Warhammer: Dawn of War III has received its first gameplay trailer at the PC Gaming show at E3, showing off its new visual style and frantic gameplay. Thanfully, the game seems to closely resemble the original Dawn of War, rather than its sequel, although you can make out a few mechanics borrowed from Dawn of War II.

The new art style is oddly cartoonish, a surprising contrast to the game’s grim setting and gory scenes of war. Set on Acheron, a hellish planet that appears to have rivers of lava in the trailer, you take the role of Blood Raven chapter master Gabriel Angelos, although he’s just one of three heroes that represent three different races in the game’s story. In the trailer, I spotted the Blood Ravens Space Marine chapter, Orks and Eldar, so it’s safe to assume the Orks and Eldar are the two other playable races in the single-player campaign.

Warhammer: Dawn of War III is set for release on PC in 2017, so it’s a while off yet. In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated as more information comes to light.

I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember. My first console was a Sega Megadrive, and my first game was Streets of Rage. I've recently graduated with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing at Cardiff Met University. I'm a fan of role-playing games and first-person shooters, but these days you can usually find me building cities in Minecraft. My favourite games are The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Bioshock.
