Halo The Master Chief Collection Finally Coming to PC, Halo Reach XB1 Back-Compat

PC and Halo fans rejoice, because Halo: The Master Chief Collection is finally coming to PC.  Microsoft and 343 Industries intend Halo: TMCC to be a “first class” experience on PC, so in order to do so, rather than releasing all the games in the collection in one shot, they will release sporadically over this year, to insure that the launch issues of the Xbox One release are not repeated.  Releasing the games this way, will give the developers all the time they need to work on each release as they become available.  Halo: TMCC on PC, will be playable on Steam and Windows.

All Halo games will release in chronological order, beginning with the second announcement that Halo: Reach is also finally coming to Halo: TMCC for both Xbox One and PC.  Following Halo: Reach will be Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (campaign) and Halo 4, all of which will be purchasable through TMCC.  However, it wasn’t clarified at the time of writing that either Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo 2 are the enhanced anniversary versions, though I’d guess that they will be.

On Xbox One, anyone that owns Halo: TMCC will be given Halo: Reach’s multiplayer, including Forge and Theatre for free, with the campaign and Firefight being sold as add-ons.  However, those that subscribe to Xbox Game Pass will be given access to Halo: Reach in its entirety with all modes included.  One could argue that all of Halo: Reach should be given for free including its campaign for those that already own TMCC, but to be fair this is a good four-plus years after TMCC’s release and Reach doesn’t star Master Chief.  I know we got ODST for free, but that was given as an apology for the crappy launch of TMCC on Xbox One.

At this time, we don’t have any release dates, but we’ll update you once we know more.  Are you excited that Halo: The Master Chief Collection is finally coming to PC, as well as Halo: Reach becoming backwards compatible?  Let us know across our social media channels.
