#E32019 New Shenmue 3 Trailer Released and Becomes Epic Store Exclusive on PC
A new gameplay for Shenmue III has been released at E3, that showcases protagonist Ryo training, fighting, chasing and catching falling children from ladders. The game has been in development for a few years now and it seems to be taking shape as we near its release date at the end of the year.
You can check out the new gameplay trailer below.
However, something that will perhaps not please many PC gamers, is that Shenmue III has been announced as an Epic Store exclusive, at least on a timed basis. Shenmue III is developed using the Unreal Engine, which is software owned by Epic, so I suppose that’s how this deal came about recently. Though PC players did back this game coming to Steam, so they have every reason to be annoyed.
Below is the typical PR mumbo-jumbo announcing the Epic Store exclusivity, which to be honest, I don’t buy that the Epic Store is the “most enjoyable experience on PC” because at the time of writing, its that bare-bones, that it doesn’t even have a shopping cart and really, how much fun can a PC game launcher be? Ys Net has earned a total of over $7 from all crowd-funding campaigns, not to mention the backing from Sony and Deep Silver, and now Epic. So rather then just releasing an insulting press release to PC games, just say that you wanted the money. As they say “honesty, is the best policy“.
We are happy to announce that Shenmue III for PC will be will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. Development for Shenmue III has been moving forward using Unreal Engine and the support we have received from Epic has been excellent. But most importantly, in looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option.
Shenmue III will release for PC and PlayStation 4 on November 19th.
