Season two for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has begun and with it, once again comes a plethora of new content.  The content will be free to all, though by purchasing a Battle Pass, you will gain much of the content sooner, though you’ll still have to put the time in.  But for me personally, this approach is much better then locking all new content behind a paywall and from what I can tell, if you’re an active CoD player, acquiring the content isn’t as grindy as we’ve seen previously, even for those that do not purchase the Battle Pass.

By not purchasing the Battle Pass, you’ll still get all the content and it’s even possible to earn up to 300 Call of Duty currency points and more.  However, by picking up the Battle Pass, like I said, acquiring content gets to you sooner as it unlocks up to 100 Tiers, which gives you faster access to the Simon “Ghost” Riley Operator, as well as weapons, calling cards, XP tokens, Skins and much more, and it’s possible to earn 1,300 Call of Duty Points in the process.

But more importantly, what content do we get for free?  Well like I said, everything which includes the traditional multiplayer maps, such as the returning Rust, as well as Atlas Superstore.  They’ll also be new maps for Ground War with Zhokov Boneyard, and new maps for Gunfight including Bazaar.  New modes includes Gunfight Tournaments and the Call of Duty League Rule-Set Playlist, which alters the modes to replicate the pro player tournament experience.  There will also be Ghost as a playable Operator, as well as two new weapons, the Grau 5.56 (SMG) and the Striker 45 (handgun).  All of the above content is available to everyone right now.

However, there is still plenty of more content to arrive in the coming weeks, including the traditional multiplayer map Khandor Hideout, a new Infected Ground War mode, which sounds like it should be a lot of fun, NVG Reinforce, which will have players battle in darkness while blending elements from Domination and Search & Destroy.  Other new modes to come includes Gunfight Variants “and more”.  Additionally we’ll get two new Operators, Talon and Mace, as well as a new “classified” weapon.  All content across the season will be available for all platforms at the same time.
