Remedy’s Control Will Have Expansion Tied-In to Alan Wake! Free Content on the Way
505 Games has detailed the expansion that will be coming to Remedy Entertainment’s Control, one of which will tie-in to Alan Wake! Other than being a big fan of this game that is long-overdue a sequel, if this expansion proves successful, it might just spawn the sequel that so many of us crave. But I’m getting way ahead of myself now, so let’s just focus on the details revealed for the two expansions, as well as the free content coming to Control.
Both expansions will add new story missions, as well as new characters, enemies and areas to explore within the insane Oldest House location. The first expansion entitled “The Foundation” is said to “delve into the history of the Oldest House and at the request of the board”, our protagonist Jesse must return order to the Foundation and the Oldest House, as she explores “what lies beneath the Bureau”. However, The Foundation expansion will be a timed exclusive on PS4, before it releases for PC and Xbox One at a later date.
The second expansion, the one that I am most excited about is the one related to Alan Wake, called AWE (Altered World Events). It is said that during this expansion, Jesse will explore “a new area of the Oldest House” and while we have no other details to go by, the image related to the AWE expansion (seen in the road map image below), clearly shows Alan Wake with his iconic torch in the top-half of the logo.
Both expansions will release in 2020 and I’d take a guess that the timed PS4 exclusive will release early in the year (hopefully), while the second expansion will release later on PC, PS4 and Xbox One simultaneously. You can purchase the Control Expansion Pass on your related digital platform which discounts both expansions, in comparison to purchasing them individually. The expansion pass costs £19.99/$24.9USD.
However, before the two expansion release, we’ll be getting some free content for Control. The free content will release later this year and will include a Photo Mode, as well as Expeditions which will offer new end-game content which will involves Jesse lending a helping hand to Security Chief Arish, and will have you exploring the “mysterious Formation and its strange surroundings” and that you will “face some of the greatest challenges the Oldest House has to throw at you.”
Are you excited at the prospect of any of this DLC and do you think we could one day get a sequel to Alan Wake or at least a remaster of the original game? Let us know across our social media channels. You can also read our review of Control here.
