‘Yakuza – Dead Souls’ launches March 2012 in US and Europe! Screens and Trailer
While my initial glance at the title lead me to believe that this was some crazy cross over with ‘Dark Souls’, the real announcement is more in line with what Yakuza fans have been waiting for.
SEGA have officially announced that the Yakuza Of The End (released earlier this year in Japan) is heading to our shores under the name Yakuza – Dead Souls. Aiming for a March 2012 release in both North America and Europe, the newest entry in the series takes a completely different approach to the previous games, offering a unique twist on the usual gameplay.
Taking a break from the classic Yakuza conventions, Yakuza Dead Souls looks to up the ante with a focus on gunplay and cinematic sequences, this spin off in the Playstation exclusive series will let you play as many characters including both Ryuji Goda and Goro Majima (he’s the crazy one!). While we wait for the studios other project ‘Binary Domain’, I’m sure theres some space left for some more zombies in your gaming time.
From the press release -
Yakuza: Dead Souls brings the Yakuza back to Kamurocho, the famous red light district of Tokyo, which is under attack from hordes of zombies. Players will not only face armies of the undead and incredibly powerful mutants; the treacherous Japanese underworld is just as merciless. Playing through the eyes of four of the most revered members of the series, witness allegiances shift quickly and the line between friend and foe lost. If you thought zombies were bad…meet the Yakuza!
“We know how much people love Yakuza in the West and with Dead Souls being the latest and greatest in the franchise its only right we bring it to them closer to the Japanese release than ever.”– said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA.
Even though I’ve just recently gotten in the Yakuza series (playing 1,2 and 3 in the last couple of months), I look forward to seeing how this slightly different take on the series is received in the west.
SEGA also released a whole host of media including screenshots and a trailer! See below for some Zombie slaying action.

‘The Darkness II: Story Behind The Horror’ trailer sheds some light on the backstory!
While I am always wanting to play the latest and greatest, this end of years gaming line-up is a little much to take in. Thankfully 2K nudged ‘The Darkness II’ into February of next year, allowing it some breathing room in the new year!
Based on the supernatural horror comic book series, developer Digital Extremes have taken the reigns from Starbreeze (currently hard at work on the Syndicate reboot) to craft the sequel to one of the most unique shooters of this current generation. Throwing both chaos and destruction into the mix with a new ‘graphics noire’ art style, ‘The Darkness II’ aims to bring some innovation to the genre with its Quad-Wielding gameplay, allowing players to slash, grab and throw objects with their Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons.
Paul Jenkins, the award-winning comic book writer will provide..
a tightly integrated narrative that weaves dark humor with hardcore tenderness. Take a step back from the familiar and comfortable, and prepare to embrace The Darkness. It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado, now the Don of the Franchetti crime family, used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power, and now The Darkness wants out. A sudden, unprovoked attack on Jackie’s life heralds the start of a full-scale mob war, which has clearly been orchestrated by some outside force. The botched attempt opens the door for The Darkness to reemerge, and sets Jackie on a journey to hell and worse, as he unravels the mystery behind the attack and the motivations of The Darkness itself.
Mixing dark with light, beauty and violence, ‘The Darkness II’ will be one to keep your eye on, and what better way to do so than with this in-depth look at the story behind the game, mixing comic book style art with some new gameplay snippets thrown in for good measure. The original title featured some powerful moments with Jackie’s relationship, and by the looks of it, this title will be capitalising on this new era in Jackie’s adventure. Check it out below.

‘The Darkness II’ will be launching for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 10th February 2012.
Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam Review
The Disney Channel knock out another original movie in the form of a sequel to Camp Rock. Its time to see just what this summer brings for our Camp Rockers.
The Sorcerers Apprentice Review
Bruckheimer produces a movie based on Artherian legend in modern times. Does Disney push out to a teen audience this time? Or does it squander another children’s movie with far too dramatic overtones?
The Last Airbender- Movie Review
Bring on some immense source material and Shyamalans script writing failures and you end up with something like this.
Top 5 Sonic Games
With everyone’s favourite hedgehog celebrating his 19th birthday last week, I took the time to reflect on the games that have defined this iconic character. SONIC BOOM!
Top 5 Games I'd Love To See On The 3DS!
This year was the greatest ever E3 and leading the race at this years event was the magnificent 3DS.
Taking the whole world by storm the 3DS’s creative technology opens up a huge gate for the world of gaming They have already announced some great titles from Mario Kart to Animal Crossing but here are a few of my ideas…
Grand Theft Auto
Driving through the lands of the 3 dimensional with a shot gun at your side what more could you want.
Super Smash Brothers 3D
Depending on the 3DS’s Hardrive will determinant the amount of characters on the game but take away the story and the odd mini-game. The console should handle multiplayer brawls with ease both online and local connection.
Monster Hunter
The great game play and graphics of the previous monster hunters + epic 3D effects = awesome! The PSP managed the intense game play and the outstanding graphics so I have no doubts the 3DS will be able to do so.
The World Ends With Two
A bad title name I just this second made up for a potentially perfect 3D RPG action game for the 3DS, square enix make it happen. Nothing beats sitting down and having a battle on world ends with you, with a strengthened multiplayer option this game could sky rocket.
Metroid Prime Hunters 3D
What would be more fun than shooting the living daylights out of everything you see playing as Nintendo’s infamous bounty hunter Samus Aran, the original Metroid prime hunter was a great title to own for the Nintendo DS, with a 3D atmosphere and enemy projectiles flying at your face i feel this would be an action packed adventure while maximising the 3D feel of Nintendo’s latest master piece.
After the release of the 3DS in 2011 I pray that at least the top 3 games make there way onto the 3D wagon.
