Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 Trailer Analysis
This week at E3, Star Wars The Force Unleashed got its second trailer and my god did it cause some outrage. Has the franchise run out of ideas in using such a basic idea for why Starkiller has returned?
The trailer opens with Starkiller kneeling in front of Darth Vader. After the usual crap about his apprentice doing well he announces he has no need for him. When the commandment to kill Starkiller is given things take a hasty turn to the awesome!
The lights go out and Starkiller brutally kills the stormtroopers with not one, but two blue sabres. A monologue can be heard and we can only assume Juno is the girl he wants to save. After destroying a flame throwing robot in style that can only be delivered by this franchise, he takes out about 100 stormtroopers. This is where we see potentially what may be a new force power. When he goes to perform a force blast the stormtroopers are burnt to dust. It is here that a 4 armed, laser shooting robot attacks Starkiller which results in it having its ass handed to it.
It then cuts to the scene causing controversy. It would appear that Starkiller is being cloned as Vader looks out on the clones in test jars. A risky move for LucasArts as a cloning story has been done so many times and will ruin the Starkiller series. However what would be cool is if when Starkiller is thrown out of the ship by Vader in the first game, he is not brought back. Instead a clone is used for the future and the apprentice is saved by someone else. A jedi perhaps?
The trailer reeks of graphical talent. They contest such graphics as those from the movie Final Fantasy Advent Children and the general Final Fantasy series itself. If the gameplay is anything like the graphics I see the game of the year approaching. Of course it is up against extremely tough competition with titles such as Arkham Asylum 2 due for release nearer the time.
Can’t wait to see more of this one.
