Fans of England’s favourite super spy rejoice! Not only has the trailer for James Bond’s latest adventure – Skyfall – been released (and which is looking to be a fantastic film) but a trailer for 007 Legends was also included.

007 Legends is the latest game from Eurocom, who were previously behind the Goldeneye remake and its HD upgrade, and follows Daniel Craig’s Bond through 6 missions. One of these missions was originally reported to be Skyfall itself, with the other 5 being classic Bond films given a modern day update. Speculation was running wild with what could be included and how they would be modernised, but with the release of the trailer we can now confirm one of the classic films to be Roger Moore’s 1979 entry: Moonraker.

The 007 Legends trailer begins at 1:23

Yes, the film with the hover-gondola, outer space shoot outs and lasers is being remade as a mission for the more down to Earth and realistic direction of the latest films. As the trailer shows the lasers and secret space stations still feature in the, which are in my opinion a little outside of the realm of the Craig era. After thoroughly enjoying Goldeneye I expect this game will also be a great title, but story wise I’m a little worried how this over the top entry is going to gel.

Now just to wait for the reveal of the remaining missions. Are there any in particular you’ve got your sights set on or indeed any you hope they avoid? Would you even like to see a previous mission from a game return in the new style (It may be the closest I can hope to get to a HD re-release of Everything or Nothing, and a HD Willem Dafoe)? Be prepared, as soon as any new missions come in we’ll let you know.

007 Legends will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC 16th October 2012

The highly anticipated Aliens: Colonial Marines game finally sees a release date of Febuary 12th 2013, this date has been confirmed by Gearbox. The game will take place after the events of the the 1986 film Aliens, directed by James Cameron and by the looks of it, the game will retain the same atmosphere of the films. This is something that recent games of the franchise has missed, but by the looks of it, it will definitely please us Aliens fans.

Check out the new trailer below:

There is a nice reference to the first Alien film with the chestbuster, also a nifty nod to a certain character from Aliens.

Can you spot the charcter reference and are you looking forward to the game? Let us know in the comments below.

What components make a multiplayer game successful? Is it the gameplay? Or perhaps a levelling system that is so commonly seen these days? Well for me it needs rewarding gameplay and a variety in maps and this is something that Battlefield 3 had. The problem that I have with it now on the Xbox 360 (not played on Playstation 3 or PC) is the rent a server. The idea of it is great, let players customise the rules to fit their liking and on paper, it should be great for players like me who can hop on the server browser and find lots of matches with different rules and find one that suits my play style. This is what i was expecting when i recently started playing it again, only for expectations to be shattered as i only found people playing the ONE map, that being Gulf of Oman.

Even when I do join such a match expecting the next map to be different, it’s not. This wouldn’t be a big problem if I could jump into a quick match on a map of my choosing, with the full 24 players, but this doesn’t happen at best I got 6 on each side. This makes the matches a lot less exciting and chances are you will jump into a custom match where the duration of it could be up to an hour. Again I have no problem with this, it’s just a tad frustrating when I know that I will lose bonus XP if I quit. The problem with the one map could also be seen again once the Close Quarter’s DLC is out, or maybe the complete opposite will happen and players will continue to play Gulf of Oman, leaving the players who bought the DLC to use the quick match option, possibly limiting the total players.

For me, DICE needs to find a way to balance the situation out, giving players the freedom they want with their matches, but at the same time allowing the other players to find the matches they want and play with the rules they want. Maybe this could be achieved with a better description of the rules next to each server.

Close Quater’s DLC is scheduled to be released On June 12th on all platforms. What are your thoughts on this rent a server? Do you love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments below.

Right now Square Enix’s Deus Ex Human Revolution is going cheap everywhere, and if you haven’t already picked this game up and are maybe put off by the cheap price. Then FEAR NOT, as this game is one of 2011’s best. Here are 5 reasons why:

Your game – There are a lot of games out there on the market that say you can play the way you want to, and more often than not this isn’t entirely the case, however with Human Revolution this is true and is arguably its biggest achievement. With each mission you are given, there are so many ways to go about completing your objective. Do you sneak around unnoticed, do you take guards out from a distance, or alternately do you go in all guns blazing. It’s your choice and you’re rewarded for your type of play style with XP that can be used to purchase augmentations. Which leads me to the next point

Augmentations - However you wish to play the game, you can customise Adam Jenson to your gameplay style with augmentations. These let you purchase upgrades like the ability to have a cloak, or increasing your max health. There is so much flexibility with the way you want to customise Jenson, that the game practically begs to be played again over and over.

Presentation - Human Revolution has an amazing art direction, add to that the incredible soundtrack, and it’s one of the best presented games I’ve seen in a long time. Why does this matter you ask, simple, it draws you into the world that much more. For any science fiction fan, you will instantly fall in love with the world that has been created and the fiction behind it. This is helped so much more with the futuristic soundtrack that captures the world beautifully. To describe the world in one word: Stunning

Adam Jenson - This is the main character you play and I really could personally attach to Jenson and feel what he was going through. This is something that a lot of games miss nowadays as they’re more worried about getting the gameplay right. Human Revolution proves why it is important, you want to get to the end just as much as he does. There are two moments in the game where you really feel his emotions play out and you instantly connect to why he is doing what he is.

Story – The narrative in the game is fantastic. Every defining moment in the story compels you to drive forward and to see what’s goning to happen next. There are some twists and turns in the later stages and although the ending is quite weak, the three that you have to choose from are all meaningful and might not be too far off from our own future. In the end, this is something that you should experience for yourself, you will not regret it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is currently out on PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and can be purchased for under £10. It has also been released on Mac as of last month but costs around the £30 mark.

If you’re still unsure then watch this trailer:

You’d be forgiven for having given up on video game Spidey a long time ago. He hasn’t been on top interactive form since Spiderman 2, and in the light of Rocksteady’s excellent treatment of Batman, Beenox’s latest efforts with the webslinger seem especially lacklustre. The developer claims to be turning things around with this newest title – and yes, this is the one tied directly to the new film’s release schedule (which is usually a good sign. Right!?)

Despite the need for quite a lot of preconception repression, Activision’s latest trailer highlights one of the more exciting mechanics of the game. ‘Web-Rush’ allows Spiderman to slow down time in a variety of contexts and undertake automatic traversal and combat-based interactions. It looks to add a lot more fluidity and depth to all elements of the game, allowing film-esque stunts to be executed with ease.

Whilst a single addition to the franchise is far from wiping Beenox’s slate completely clean, let’s hope this mechanic ushers in new heights for video game Spidey to swing around in.

Kinect Fun Labs is certainly case of promise vs. reality. Announced at E3 2011, the new application promised fun, quirky, experimental side projects that aimed to show off unique ideas and concepts for the Kinect. While some of that may be true, there’s definitely potential for so much more. The unfortunate reality has resulted in paid-for widgets that are pretty shallow. While I’m not going to argue that I haven’t had fun with the current offerings such as Googly Eyes, Build a Buddy and Air Band, it’s far from what the service should have been.

Imagine of the Kinect Fun Labs application was much more open, just like the Indie Games platform, allowing developers to release free or cheap experimental applications for Kinect gamers to play. There’s certainly been a huge influx of Kinect titles recently, more so with ‘Kinect features’, but there’s nothing quite like community projects.

The release of Kinect for Windows and the SDK went a certain distance in making the platform easier and more straightforward for PC developers to have a crack at creating motion-controlled experiences. Previously, homebrew drivers were produced, and the unique potential the early projects showed proved that there’s both the drive and passion for creating these types of projects. Unfortunately however, these projects are tied to the PC platform, and having to purchase a higher priced Kinect along with getting the grasp of the SDK may be too much for some who want to experiment.

After a name change and slightly better placement on the Games Marketplace, the Indie Games (previously known as Community Games) shows promise of what individuals/small teams can produce, and Microsoft really should open up the door for them to utilise the Kinect.

I’m not quite sure why Microsoft has made these restrictions, as they are clearly more open and arguably flexible when it comes to the Indie Games at a base level, and since the Kinect has seen some novel uses in a number of areas ranging from music to medical applications, it certainly seems like a missed opportunity. Full retail Kinect games are good and all, but it would be even better to see cheaper, shorter and more innovative experiences directly downloadable through Xbox Live.

If the current Kinect Fun Labs application is to succeed, it needs better exposure. It took me a good number of attempts to actually locate how to access it, as it doesn’t appear under ‘Games Library’ or any of the ‘Apps‘ sections, If you’ve had a good dig for it, you’ll have found that it’s actually hidden in the Games Marketplace itself, and even then it’s not clear what it actually is. The fact that it’s a separate marketplace you have to boot into, of which is both very slow and clunky to load in the first place is another unnecessary step.

Hopefully at this year’s E3, Microsoft will take the opportunity to expand the offering, as it definitely needs added consistency when it comes to releases, as it does seem rather hodge-podge to when games actually appear on the service. It’s certainly a plus that they come along with achievements and gamerscore, but opening up the platform also has its rewards.

Garry's Mod with Kinect

After the successful sales that the Kinect received (breaking a world record while they were at it), there’s certainly enough of an audience to make it worthwhile. The Kinect is indeed primarily marketed at families and younger children, but there’s potential for the core audience to expand the device further. By far the most useful aspect of the Kinect is the integration it’s seen to the Dashboard in relation to the voice commands and Bing search, but what would happen if the community got their hands on it too?

It’s also clear that a large amount of families with the Xbox 360 and Kinect haven’t connected their systems to Xbox Live, and this has to be a sore point for Microsoft. Too many times during my retail sales experience would an Xbox 360 customer come in having no knowledge of what Xbox Live can offer them, even on the basic free level. They’d seem almost overjoyed at the potential that their system had that they didn’t know about originally. It’s all very easy to throw in leaflets, but a new advertising campaign focusing on innovative Kinect projects aimed at this audience would be great. Happy Action Theater is a perfect title that appeals to all gamers, but its visibility is just not that high enough.

Kinectris. http://tinyurl.com/kinecttetris

The Kinect platform is set to both evolve and expand, and Microsoft are surely working on the second generation of the technology to allow better and more fluid tracking. The platform definitely has a bright future ahead of itself, and it’d be an easy assumption to make that the new Kinect will arrive alongside the next generation of Xbox hardware, maybe even integrated directly into the system. With this in mind I hope that Microsoft opens the door for developers to experiment with the device further, as in my opinion smaller teams often have more freedom when it comes to unique and innovative game design ideas.

As it stands, Kinect Fun Labs is both fun and simple, but lacking in what it could truly offer. The initial trailer certainly promised a lot, and while the current applications are certainly novel, there’s a lot more work to do to get both independent developers as well as casual gamers interested in what the device is capable of.

Forza Horizon has been slowly shuffling into the view of the gaming media, and today we have our first glimpse at an in-game screenshot, as well as the official box art featuring the 2013 SRT Viper.

The teaser trailer (below) snuck out of Microsoft’s Spring Showcase earlier this year, and even though it didn’t feature any in-game footage of said title, it did aim to establish a look and feel to this extremely divergent spin-off from the core realistic racing series.

Coming this fall for Xbox 360, Forza Horizon combines the automotive thrills that Forza fans expect with a gorgeous open-road world that begs to be explored.

An Open-Road world? If it’s anything like Test Drive Unlimited, we should be in for a treat, especially since even though the studio behind Forza Horizon, Playground Studios (in collaboration with Turn 10), is a recent establishment, formed in 2009, their staff do include ex-staff from a number of studios including Bizarre Creations (PGR, Blur), Black Rock Studios (Pure, Spit/Second), Slightly Mad Studios (NFS: Shift) , Criterion Games (Burnout, NFS: Hot Pursuit), Rockstar North and Ubisoft Reflections (Driver) among others.

Well certainly be hearing more at Microsoft’s Press Conference at E3 2012 on June 4th.
