Explore the Wall in New Trailer for A Game of Thrones

Focus Home Interactives adaptation of A Game of Thrones might be one of my most anticipated games so far of 2012. Since its announcement we’ve had but the bare minimum of details but finally we get a trailer showing us what to expect. Narrated by Jeor Mormont we’re introduced to the Wall and the Brothers of the Nights Watch, as well as catching a glimpse of the gameplay for the first time.

While not exactly a graphical showcase, the artistic design borrowed from HBOs series still manages to make the world a sight to behold. This coupled with what is promising to be a worthy story for the Song of Ice and Fire saga is making this a very exciting game indeed.

Along with the trailer the official website has also gone live  taking browsers through an interactive tour of key locations from the game, and showering them with rewards such as wallpapers and exclusive clips for completing “quests” (read: trivia questions)

Game of Thrones is due out in the ambiguous region of “Early 2012″ for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

Two More Vita Launch Title Trailers

Despite news coming out about small problems with the Vita as the western launch draws ever closer I can feel my tech-lust ever rising. Seeing what this little device is capable of (just look at Uncharted Golden Abyss, witchcraft!) combined with such a strong launch lineup has propelled it firmly into a day one pick up.

One of these launch games is the unfortunately titled “Touch My Katamari”. If you’ve played a Katamari game before you know what to expect, but in case you haven’t, shame on you, go play one now, I’ll wait.

Back? Good. As the above trailer shows the King of the Cosmos appears to have fallen on hard times, and it looks as if its up to Goro the Slacker to finally turn both his and the King’s lives around.

The second title to receive a new trailer is “Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen”, a sequel to the PS2′s original Shinobido. I missed out on the original and its PSP successor, but coming from the company that made Tenchu it was always a series I had an interest in. Stealth games seem to be getting fewer these days, with even the Splinter Cell series moving into more action orientated gameplay. Shinobido is still a very action packed game but relies a lot more on watching and learning than straight action, with satisfying sword executions as a reward.

Very much in the same genre as Metal Gear, Shinobido gives you the tools to be able to survive an all out attack, but rewards you for playing stealthily. Very much a feudal Japanese tactical espionage action. Featuring a dynamic branching storyline, the tale picks up six months after the original Shinobido and chronicles the trial of Zen as he seeks revenge against those who betrayed him and destroyed his home. With the ability to slow down time and glide around the sandbox style levels, Shinobido 2 is shaping up to be an exciting launch title.

Both games are on my priority list f Vita titles, but Shinobido has the edge of the two. Colour me excited indeed.

Touch my Katamari and Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen will be available for the PSVita at launch – 22 February 2012.

New Trailer For Final Fantasy XIII-2 Shows Us Who’s Who

Being one of around seven people who actually enjoyed the original Final Fantasy XIII I’m looking forward to its direct sequel, and a perfect 40 score from Famitsu does nothing to settle me down. In the main time I’ll just have to make do with the many trailers we receive, the latest of which shows us who’s who in the game. Although more of a basic cast list than a real introduction to the characters, it does show off who we need to know and tantalises us with some gameplay and over the top cinematic scenes. 2012 is looking to be off to a good start.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be available in the UK for Xbox 360 and PS3 on 3 February 2012.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Guided Tour Trailer Plus Screens

To celebrate the launch of Final Fantasy XIII-2 this week in Japan, and the perfect scores on both Famitsu (40/40) and Dengeki PlayStation (‘S’, highest achievable score) Square Enix have released a new video that examines with great detail all the best new features and gameplay elements that will no doubt make XIII-2 one to remember.

The trailer truly shows off Final FantasyXIII-2’s huge sense of freedom and exploration, including the evolved battle system which will allow you to befriend and train over  150 different monsters found throughout the game. The trailer also reveals a deeper look at strategic fast-paced battles, in-depth customisation and choice-oriented gameplay that both fans and new comers alike will come to love.

Square have also nicely dropped in a few new screenshots for us to feast our eyes upon, with each showing off battles, Paradox Endings, a brand new and mysterious character called Yeul, and as you may have already guessed, Cactaur’s older brother Gigantuar!

Battlefield 3 has been “Banned” in Iran

Despite the fact that EA have not yet officially released Battlefield 3 in their country, the Iranian government has banned the sale and distribution of this first person blockbuster. Up until now pirated copies of Battlefield were being sold in Iran, however, following a statement from the Iranian Police they were forced to stop. There have even been claims that shops have been raided by police and retailers arrested for selling the games secretly, although these are unconfirmed.

AFP reports that the Iranian government took offence to the scenes of clashes between US forces and hostile militia on the Iraq-Iran border as well as attacks on the Iranian capital of Tehran. Living in a post 9/11 world and with Battlefield’s Single Player Campaign focusing around a terrorist plot and fears of a nuclear disaster, it is understandable why Iran has made the move to ban this game.

Below is a teaser trailer based around a mission set in Tehran. It is a good basis of what you can come to expect from the game and could shed some light on why Iran have a problem with Battlefield 3.
