The highly anticipated Aliens: Colonial Marines game finally sees a release date of Febuary 12th 2013, this date has been confirmed by Gearbox. The game will take place after the events of the the 1986 film Aliens, directed by James Cameron and by the looks of it, the game will retain the same atmosphere of the films. This is something that recent games of the franchise has missed, but by the looks of it, it will definitely please us Aliens fans.

Check out the new trailer below:

There is a nice reference to the first Alien film with the chestbuster, also a nifty nod to a certain character from Aliens.

Can you spot the charcter reference and are you looking forward to the game? Let us know in the comments below.

Mark Hamill once said that Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham City would be the last time he would appear in any media format to voice the Joker. Well, we are now hearing reports from Joystiq that he will be returning to voice the Joker, along with Arleen Sorkin who voiced Harley Quinn in Batman Arkham Aslyum in the upcoming DLC for DC Universe Online. The DLC is entitled The Last Laugh and adds two different scenarios, one being a 4 on 4 battle and the second being a 16 vs 16 match, whereby each team has to capture the other team’s headquarters. The DLC will be free to legendary subscribers but free and premium players will have to pay. No price has been announced yet but expect it to be around the £5 area.

The Last Laugh is set to be released sometime in June. Are you looking forward to seeing the return of Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

What components make a multiplayer game successful? Is it the gameplay? Or perhaps a levelling system that is so commonly seen these days? Well for me it needs rewarding gameplay and a variety in maps and this is something that Battlefield 3 had. The problem that I have with it now on the Xbox 360 (not played on Playstation 3 or PC) is the rent a server. The idea of it is great, let players customise the rules to fit their liking and on paper, it should be great for players like me who can hop on the server browser and find lots of matches with different rules and find one that suits my play style. This is what i was expecting when i recently started playing it again, only for expectations to be shattered as i only found people playing the ONE map, that being Gulf of Oman.

Even when I do join such a match expecting the next map to be different, it’s not. This wouldn’t be a big problem if I could jump into a quick match on a map of my choosing, with the full 24 players, but this doesn’t happen at best I got 6 on each side. This makes the matches a lot less exciting and chances are you will jump into a custom match where the duration of it could be up to an hour. Again I have no problem with this, it’s just a tad frustrating when I know that I will lose bonus XP if I quit. The problem with the one map could also be seen again once the Close Quarter’s DLC is out, or maybe the complete opposite will happen and players will continue to play Gulf of Oman, leaving the players who bought the DLC to use the quick match option, possibly limiting the total players.

For me, DICE needs to find a way to balance the situation out, giving players the freedom they want with their matches, but at the same time allowing the other players to find the matches they want and play with the rules they want. Maybe this could be achieved with a better description of the rules next to each server.

Close Quater’s DLC is scheduled to be released On June 12th on all platforms. What are your thoughts on this rent a server? Do you love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments below.

Right now Square Enix’s Deus Ex Human Revolution is going cheap everywhere, and if you haven’t already picked this game up and are maybe put off by the cheap price. Then FEAR NOT, as this game is one of 2011’s best. Here are 5 reasons why:

Your game – There are a lot of games out there on the market that say you can play the way you want to, and more often than not this isn’t entirely the case, however with Human Revolution this is true and is arguably its biggest achievement. With each mission you are given, there are so many ways to go about completing your objective. Do you sneak around unnoticed, do you take guards out from a distance, or alternately do you go in all guns blazing. It’s your choice and you’re rewarded for your type of play style with XP that can be used to purchase augmentations. Which leads me to the next point

Augmentations - However you wish to play the game, you can customise Adam Jenson to your gameplay style with augmentations. These let you purchase upgrades like the ability to have a cloak, or increasing your max health. There is so much flexibility with the way you want to customise Jenson, that the game practically begs to be played again over and over.

Presentation - Human Revolution has an amazing art direction, add to that the incredible soundtrack, and it’s one of the best presented games I’ve seen in a long time. Why does this matter you ask, simple, it draws you into the world that much more. For any science fiction fan, you will instantly fall in love with the world that has been created and the fiction behind it. This is helped so much more with the futuristic soundtrack that captures the world beautifully. To describe the world in one word: Stunning

Adam Jenson - This is the main character you play and I really could personally attach to Jenson and feel what he was going through. This is something that a lot of games miss nowadays as they’re more worried about getting the gameplay right. Human Revolution proves why it is important, you want to get to the end just as much as he does. There are two moments in the game where you really feel his emotions play out and you instantly connect to why he is doing what he is.

Story – The narrative in the game is fantastic. Every defining moment in the story compels you to drive forward and to see what’s goning to happen next. There are some twists and turns in the later stages and although the ending is quite weak, the three that you have to choose from are all meaningful and might not be too far off from our own future. In the end, this is something that you should experience for yourself, you will not regret it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is currently out on PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and can be purchased for under £10. It has also been released on Mac as of last month but costs around the £30 mark.

If you’re still unsure then watch this trailer:

The majority of gamers are more than likely excited for GTA V and who can blame them, after all GTA games are for the most part masterpieces, but here are a list of things that I think GTA V could improve on from the last instalment in the series GTA IV

More Variety - Remember the bank robbery mission in GTA IV, who doesn’t. Let’s be honest, that was one of the highlights of the game since it was exciting, it was tense and above all else it was different. Most missions in GTA IV were based around driving or shooting, and sure so was the bank robbery, but name another game that has done it so well. The point is, every mission in GTA V should be like this, something that players have not experienced before.

Multiple story paths - GTA IV had one or two moments where you as Niko Bellic would have to make a big choice that would affect the game’s story, to a point, but it wouldn’t drastically change the outcome at the end. Imagine if it did and there were more of those choices, not only would it encourage multiple playthroughs, but it would also make us care more about the characters and what happens to them. Sure we remember Niko Bellic and cared about his progression as a character, and a few of his friends such as Jacob, but in the end the main focus was on Niko, and the decisions only impacted him. If there were multiple story paths maybe every character would be affected in one way or another.

Customisation - Nothing that I bought, either clothes or weapons, felt like mine, as I knew that thousands of people would have the same look as me. The character I control should feel like my character, and though I’m not saying copy Saints Row and have an insane amount of options when it comes to say clothing, it would be nice to have more control of my appearance. The same with weapons, it would be great to have a weapon like the AK-47 and put a scope on it, adapting a weapon to any situation that you find yourself in. It would also be great to see car customisation, similar to what was seen in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, whereby you could hijack a car, take it to a place where you could change multiple aspects on how it looked visually, but maybe in GTA V it could be improved so that players can change the performance of the given vehicle.

Side Missions – GTA IV had some great side missions, such as assassinations and the random encounters you would have with certain NCP’s that would give you bizarre missions. I have no complaint here I just WANT TO SEE MORE!!!!

Fun – Now I’m not saying GTA IV wasn’t fun, but it was missing that over the top fun factor that could be found in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, where you could just mess around and cause mayhem. Why not bring it back, but this time reward the player for it, just like in Saints Row The Third where you can get in a tank and just cause as much mayhem as you can in the time limit, whilst getting money for it. GTA IV was a serious game and I give it kudos for that, but sometimes we all just want to have some fun!

So there it is, if you guys can think of any more things you would love to see in GTA V then let us know in the comments below. For the latest rumours on GTA V click here.

GTA V is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, though a date has yet to be confirmed.

2K Games and Gearbox Software have announced with faces grinning that two, count that, two tiers of special limited editions will be available for the highly anticipated Borderlands 2 - the Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition and Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition. Currently in development by Gearbox Software, Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combines intense first-person mayhem with rich role-playing gameplay. Both editions will reward fans and newcomers alike with a number of collectibles and in-game bonus items that will be sure to enhance the action-packed, guns-blazing experience.

The Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition (£64.99 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) includes a copy of Borderlands 2; authentic Marcus Kincaid bobblehead ; Inside the Vault: The Art & Design of Borderlands 2 hardbound book; collectable sticker set; map of Pandora; digital comic download code; and bonus downloadable in-game digital content. The slightly more illustrious Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition (£99.99 on Xbox 360/PS3 or £74.99 on PC) includes all of those items, plus a collectable scaled replica of the red loot chests found throughout Pandora; steelbook case; Creatures of Pandora wide-format ID chart; lithograph postcard set; field notes from Sir Hammerlock; cloth map of Pandora; and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Gamers who pre-order the Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition, Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition or the standard edition of the game from participating retailers will also gain access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, allowing them to download the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, the Vault Hunter’s Relic and an all-new fifth character class – the Mechromancer. The Gearbox Gun Pack is a collection of unique guns to help players begin their journey on Pandora. The Golden Key is used to unlock a rare in-game item in the mysterious Golden Sanctuary Loot Chest found within Pandora. The Vault Hunter’s Relic is an in-game item that boosts players’ gear-hunting fortune while playing solo or teaming up with friends. The Mechromancer character class will be available following launch when development of the character is complete and is free to those who pre-order Borderlands 2, and will be available for purchase for those who do not.

Borderlands 2 is scheduled for launch in North America on September 18, 2012, and internationally on September 21, for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

There’s no word on when Grand Theft Auto V will be released and no confirmation whether these vehicles will actually be in the game. We won’t be hearing anything from Rockstar at E3, so keep checking back here for more news on the game.
