Also joining in on the 25th Anniversary festivities, 12 new fan-favourite Street Fighter X Tekken characters have been selected to be introduced in the PS Vita system version of the game when it releases later this year. Spec Ops steps up to The Line with a release date

After many years or being pushed back and rescheduled, Spec Ops: The Line has finally received a solid release date. Today, Take-Two have announced the that Spec Ops will be crossing the finish line on June 26th as well as revealing details of a Premium Edition. The previously mentioned “Premium Edition” will feature a variety of multiplayer bonus content to folks who pre-order the game from “participating retailers” (none are listed as of yet).

If that isn’t enough for you, part of the “Premium Edition’s” content is getting access to the “FUBAR pack,” containing various multiplayer customization options (“unique and visually distinct items” … to everyone who pre-orders the game). Additionally, the content includes an AK-47 unlock and an Officer Class promotion at rank one, as well as double XP for the first week of online play. Take-Two are certainly drawing a line in the sand, if you pre-order you’re likely to be on the winning side.

So there you have it, Spec Ops: The Line. I was lucky enough to be in the closed Beta that took place sometime last year and I can safely say that it’s not bad, not bad at all.

Assassin’s Creed 3 has a Release Date…Not much else!

Spotted over at Joystiq, financial calls are once again proving to be a useful resource for eager eyed/eared gamers to gather what little they can about future games and products.

Ubisoft has just revealed that their next entry into the ever popular historical time-travelling stealth assassin action game (phew!) will be releasing on 30th October this year.

Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft Company Head) has been quoted as saying -

Assassin’s Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the Assassin’s Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general

He later went to state that it’s been in development for three years, and it will be the biggest launch in Ubisoft’s history.

With the amount of teams which worked on the previous entry Revelations, and with sales topping 7 million, it sounds like they are putting even more resources into this next entry, and while no concrete details were announced, we should expect to see a lot more very soon, given that the title could be a mere 10 months away.

Ubisoft is looking to have a great year for fans of all genres, and who knows what the WiiU Assassin’s Creed title will hold for gamers.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is currently available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Resident Evil 6 Details Revealed

With all the hype surrounding Resident Evil 6′s shiny new trailer, I had a feeling it would only be a matter of time before Capcom couldn’t hold their mouths shut for long, as they have eagerly graced us with a few interesting details that should hopefully explain a few things.

While it has already been revealed that Chris Redfield heads to China during the course of the game, we can now confirm that the main location in China and setting of the game will be a coastal town called Lanshiang. There have also been many questions about the time frame in which RE 6 takes place in, it can be confirmed that it is sometime in 2013.

Character profiles:

Leon S. Kennedy: Following the Raccoon City incident Leon was recruited as a US government agent by none other than Adam Benford, who would later become the President of the United States. Ever since the nightmare that was Raccoon City Leon has made it his life’s work to eradicate bioterrorism.

Helena Harper: Like Leon, she is also a government agent, but was in the process of transferring to the Secret Service to become one of the President’s personal bodyguards. In the announcement trailer it is Helena who admits to Leon that she is the one responsible for this incident.

Chris Redfield: An ex-S.T.A.R.S member who continued the fight against bioterrorism as the leader of the BSAA underwent a personal trauma some six months prior to the events depicted in RE6. In spite of this he has rejoined his BSAA colleagues in China to uncover a major bioterrorist attack.

The mysterious third protagonist: We’re still trying to track down his real identity but we do know this man is a mercenary currently engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. One day, he’s told that he is the man to save the world. Whilst he doesn’t understand the implications of this, he does immediately think how much money he can make from it.

Ingrid Hunnigan: A member of Field Operations Support (FOS), Ingrid has been working with Leon for a long time, and they share a mutual trust.

Adam Benford: President of the United States and the man who hired Leon after the Raccoon City incident.

Enemies:

Zombies: It seems they are back with avengeance as they will now run and jump at you, and even use weapons making them a little more formidable from those encountered in previous games.

J’avo: Named by the BSAA after the Serbian word for ‘demon’, the first J’avo made an appearance in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe about six months before the action of Resident Evil 6. The J’avo still exhibit certain human elements – such as the ability to understand speech, work together as a group and use weapons – but they are also incredibly aggressive and a number of their actions have regressed to pure instinct. When a J’avo takes damage it has the ability to regenerate itself. However if it is receives major damage then it will mutate that affected body part into a number of varied forms, meaning players will have to rethink their strategy and adapt to this unpredictability.

Surprisingly Resident Evil 6 will feature an evolved control system, unlike any before it, allowing players to shoot whilst moving; sliding; rolling in any direction and to take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack. While RE fans may not be so happy about this, I personally think its a step in the right direction for Capcom and the series as pushing old traditions aside and making way for new and innovative technology is a tried and tested method that always brings good results.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II Screens Leaked, Shows Sonic Looking Stunning

We have finally been given the first real look at the upcoming Sonic game heading to the Xbox 360 Live Arcade, PSN and PC. We managed to come across the leaked screenshots via Xbox.com, which it appears they may have posted early. There are a lot of mesmerizing pictures showing Tails and the new graphics and physics engine for the next episode of Sonic 4. Versions of the game are also planned for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7. It also appears that Sega have put online 2-player co-op, so players could possibly play throughout the campaign as Sonic or Tails and complete the episode together.

If you’re one of those lucky folk with PlayStation 3’s in North America and Europe you will have already had access to the demo since yesterday but, who knows, maybe you were dragged away by your better halves for Valentine related goodness. Now is the time to play.

The demo includes a test run of Binary Domain’s voice-command system, which is optional in combat and non-combat situations, and allows player to have “more natural dialogue with their allies,” Sega says.
