Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Announces Mortal Kombat
Created By Original Game Developer but with a shiny new name – NetherRealm Studios makes the arrival of one of the most brutal fighters around
The next blood soaked instalment of the landmark fighting game to date will makes its way onto your screens sometime during 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, this Mortal Kombat title is being developed by the newly re-named NetherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat creator and creative director Ed Boon.
The newest chapter of the iconic fighter franchise marks a triumphant return to the series with a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic. Driven by an all new graphics engine, the fan favourite Fatality is back and blown up in more gory detail than ever before. In addition, Mortal Kombat will introduce a number of new game-play features including tag team and possibly the deepest story mode of any fighting game. Players can choose from a vast line up of the game’s iconic warriors and challenge their friends in classic 1v1 matches, or take on several new game modes such as four player tag-team or Co-op Arcade Mode.
Martin Tremblay, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment said, “We are bringing the Mortal Kombat franchise back to gamers with the talented NetherRealm Studios team creating the game fans long to play,â€. “Re-establishing the brand with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat innovates on past games while staying true to the brand’s legendary characters and fighting style.â€
Ed Boon, Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios said, “We can’t wait for players to get their hands on Mortal Kombat,â€. “This game really is a response to what players have been demanding: mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever!â€
Does Nintendo Need An Appstore? [Industry]
I’m sure the majority of you DSi owners are sitting there thinking “Nintendo does have an Appstore… The Dsi Ware & Wii Ware?†Well that may be true but your looking at the smaller picture. Nintendo hasn’t exactly been the leader in the online space with the digital downloads and it doesn’t look like theirs going to have any sudden change either. Apples Appstore is huge with so much variety of applications its hard to say “There’s not an app for that†As majority of us will know Nintendo’s digital download threat is the Appstore.
How I myself understands why the Appstore is so popular is because well, The Appstore isn’t targeted at a specific market in general other than the avid user. The Appstore is building up every day due to the availability of being able to create an application in hours. The resources are already there for designers and publishes to create games more easier and quicker compared to the Wii Ware/ DSi Ware store.
How Nintendo could provide their own would be to make another store called the “App Channel.†As you would of guessed it Nintendo would get poked a bit by apple but hey! its where the moneys at.
Apples service for designers and developers to create such applications is amazing. We have already seen major company’s following in the independent developers foot steps with the tools to create game ports of their titles. Even though the tools don’t just specify for games only but other applications like social networking, music, entertainment etc.
Even though the SDK Kit carry’s a price tag that is the only flaw to apples application money making scheme.
With Nintendo it would be hard on how Nintendo would provide a designing Kit to the market due to the fact they are probably to worried of to many fake Mario games would be produced and developed. This is where Nintendo stand strong on knowing who develops their titles for their Wii Ware and DSi Ware. If people decided to no longer develop on the Appstore then the Appstore would be nothing, even though this wouldn’t be the case but it would still be an option.
In a way Nintendo has become better off in knowing what is being created for their gamers and users, we have all seen our fair share of ridiculously bad applications which makes you wonder why they are on the store. It’s hard to say that the DS’s touch screen stands apart from the iPhone/iTouch/iPad’s screens. The only difference is obviously the fact of duel screens. Both the DS and iPhone both have built in microphones and online capabilities. It would be hard for Nintendo to market any applications to compete against apples touch screen team, but the Wii would still stand strong. Application developers could go crazy in developing for the Wii due to having the ability of motion sensing. It wouldn’t be good however if a developer didn’t want to use motion controls and it would just be like any other WiiWare title.
Iwata put on his boots and admitted Apple could be a threat in the future, this is due to Nintendo’s upcoming attack the 3Ds with an Appstore rumoured that developers would go pretty crazy for.
We will have to wait around E3 to see if Iwata and the gang confirm an application type store for the 3DS. It would be nice to see an Appstore. Nintendo would have to definitely keep the star rating system in or something else to keep the rubbish away.
Well… What do you think? leave your comments below.

Looks Like Rare Has Something Planned For E3
As we mentioned a few days back about Rare celebrating their 25 year anniversary. You may recall me saying about they will be launching a remodelled and fresh site.We have stared at the website for about an hour and have come up with some ideas that could end up becoming true.
Since E3 is only a few days away there has been numerous rumours hitting the internet. We took to note with Christian that the Microsoft Press Event starts in 7 Days time, exactly the same day as the Rare website launches.
This could mean that Rare will be announcing some new titles at E3 along with some exclusive information on their website. The biggest thought game to mind is Rare could be announcing the upcoming Perfect Dark title that rumours have been speculating for the past few years.
We also notice an Xbox 360 Avatar on the temporary website homepage, could this be a hint at an avatar themed title? or a project natal title?
We also have another feeling that Rare will be announcing another Banjo Kazooie title to be like its retro counterparts or even Golden Eye Arcade release date information click here to start speculating outcomes yourselves… Who knows? We will bring you all the coverage of the event during our time at E3, so remember to keep pushing start!
Capcom's E3 Line-up 2010

Looks like Capcom are going big this year at E3. I’m especially looking forward to Okamiden the long awaited sequel to Okami. Capcom also say there hiding some surprises, its a time to be very excited, 2010 E3 is going to be plain awesome.
Project Natal Nearly There
The last time we heard any news on Microsoft’s Project Natal was probably in the same week it was announced. Making us all wait for more than 6 months before hearing any ‘real’ news on what the deal was with this thing.
But after all this time waiting, Natal has once again emerged from the haze, bringing with it, a fresh new design and boasting a better quality of gaming showing us what Microsoft can really do when they decide to get down to work.
This is also a good opportunity to announce that because Project Natal is still in “Project modeâ€, once it is actually on sale, you will probably notice the change in title instead of Natal to better fit in with the Xbox 360.
