The Adventure Pals, a light-hearted action platformer by Massive Monster, is releasing very soon with a specified date of the 3rd of April.

Coming to PS4, Switch, PC and Xbox One, the game follows the adventures of a young boy and his giraffe and pet rock on their quest to save the world from a villain who is turning old people into hot dogs.

Your dad happens to be this lunatic’s next victim, so you leap into action to fight your way through a bizarre and wild world filled with traps, creatures and treasure.

You’ll explore the world atop your giraffe in isometric fashion and then fight through 2D levels and defeat quirky bosses.

The game looks to have a sense of humour, though it’s clearly also more geared towards a younger audience.

The gameplay itself looks good enough to be enjoyed by all however, and the world seems colourful and full of interesting curiosities – some of the boss fights look like they could be entertaining (with one in the trailer of a tree that you disrobe).

The game will also come with a coop mode, so if you’ve got kids or you just fancy a light-hearted adventure with a mate, then you can make use of that.

Take a look at the trailer below if you haven’t seen it already, along with some screenshots.

I started gaming with the release of the PS1 - Crash Bandicoot and Ridge Racer Revolution being the first 'real' games I ever set eyes on - and have been enthralled with the medium ever since. I particularly love strategy and horror games, the sort offered by titles such as Total War and Silent Hill, though I also have a soft spot for a good RPG. I studied Journalism at university in the hopes of progressing into writing about games, but my 'real job' is as a postman. You'll most likely find me covering indie games as I'm always on the look out for interesting little titles, and generally I stick to the PC and PS4 platforms. I'm not interested in MMOs or really any kind of online game, and I have an unusual and frankly worryingly expensive obsession with collecting gaming guide books, but aside from that I like to think I'm a well rounded average gamer.
