It’s been out for the PlayStation 3 for less than a week, but City Interactive has now announced that their self-published first-person-shooter, Sniper: Ghost Warrior, will be getting a sequel.

According to IGN; the simply titled Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 will see a 2012 release for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
As you can imagine, there are currently no fundamental details at this time, but what we can say is that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 it will be a visual spectacle, as the game will run on CryENGINE 3, the same game engine used by Crytek studio to create the gorgeous looking Crysis 2.

More details will arrive in due-course.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior has celebrated chart success since its release on the PlayStation 3 last week, after being available on the Xbox 360 and PC since June last year. Sniper: Ghost Warrior has surged up the PlayStation 3 charts across all key European territories, despite mediocre reception from critics. As well as storming to the top spot in Germany, the title comes 2nd place in Switzerland, and 3rd place in the UK.

City Interactive is now looking to build on the games success with key new releases that are to be announced at this year’s E3.
