Mars based horror Moons of Madness announced

A brand new psychological horror game by the name of Moons of Madness has been announced by Norwegian developer Rocket Pocket.

Set on the red planet itself, and taking inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft, Moons of Madness is a first person ‘narrative driven’ game that puts you in the boots of astronaut Shane Newehart.

Posted on a scientific outpost on Mars, players will experience the supernatural events that occur on the station and their bizarre sanity bending consequences.

The H.P. Lovecraft influence isn’t just a passé nod either, as the press release explains below.

“In Moons of Madness, Rock Pocket Games integrates the cosmicism style found in H.P. Lovecraft’s hallmark to the game’s narrative, environment and gameplay; the sense that ordinary life is a thin shell over a reality that is so alien and abstract in comparison that merely contemplating it would damage the sanity of the ordinary person.”

A trailer has also been released, which you can view below.

Moons of Madness will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2018.

I started gaming with the release of the PS1 - Crash Bandicoot and Ridge Racer Revolution being the first 'real' games I ever set eyes on - and have been enthralled with the medium ever since. I particularly love strategy and horror games, the sort offered by titles such as Total War and Silent Hill, though I also have a soft spot for a good RPG. I studied Journalism at university in the hopes of progressing into writing about games, but my 'real job' is as a postman. You'll most likely find me covering indie games as I'm always on the look out for interesting little titles, and generally I stick to the PC and PS4 platforms. I'm not interested in MMOs or really any kind of online game, and I have an unusual and frankly worryingly expensive obsession with collecting gaming guide books, but aside from that I like to think I'm a well rounded average gamer.
