Previous generation always suffered from the summer drought, as vast majority of publishers usually released their titles in Q1, Q3, and Q4 of every financial year – ultimately leaving Q2 for dead. But with the expansion of contemporary Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Live Marketplace the paradigm of the industry has shifted dramatically, and summer is now one of the hottest seasons both literally and hypothetically speaking. And with every year it is becoming the season to release your game in. But it looks like we’ve just reached the point where summer, just like the Q3 and Q4, has become over-saturated with games, and the current week is the best example of that.

Between 7th and 12th of August, a staggering 20 new titles will make their way onto the PlayStation Store (22 if you consider Mega Man Combo Pack, two versions of LawBreakers and Batman: The Enemy Within Season Pass as unique entities). The week will officially open with the store update on the 8th of August, and the following titles will be live on this day:

  1. Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – £29.99
  2. Lawbreakers: Deadzo Deluxe – £32.99
  3. Lawbreakers – £24.99
  4. Batman: The Enemy Within Season Pass – £24.99
  5. Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 – TBA
  6. Sine Mora EX – TBA
  7. Blackhole: Complete Edition – TBA
  8. Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 – TBA
  9. Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 Combo Pack – TBA
  10. Masquerada: Songs and Shadows – TBA
  11. The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II – TBA
  12. Comet Crash 2: The Kronkoid Wars – TBA
  13. Graceful Explosion Machine – TBA
  14. Neon Drive – TBA
  15. A Healer Only Lives Twice – TBA

The initial wave of titles will be followed by a hand full of other titles, on 9th of August. First on the 9th of August the European PlayStation Store will finally see the release of the long awaited, The Long Dark, and this particular title will be accompanied by Digerati Bundle 3 Pack Part 5, which is composed of Letter Quest, Paranautical Activity, and Sun & Moon.

This overwhelmingly busy week will officially conclude on the 11th of August, with four titles:

  1. Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap + OST Bundle – TBA
  2. Sudden Strike 4 – £49.99
  3. Plague Road – TBA
  4. ACA NEOGEO THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’96 – TBA

The official conclusion of the PlayStation Store Extravaganza will come to an end on the 12th of August, however, it will feature one more bundle on the 10th of August, which will precede the 11th of August titles. However, all that is known about it is that it features titles published by Wales Interactive, but it doesn’t necessarily state which titles. And in order to find out we’ll have to wait until the said bundle appears on the PlayStation store over the course of this week.

All the above-mentioned titles may cost you as little as £9.99, and as much as £49.99, as Sudden Strike 4, is set to be the most expensive title to be published this week. However, the spotlight will surely belong to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, and Lawbreakers as these two particular titles are the shining stars of this week’s insanely crowded studded line-up.
