Some good news for fans of fast paced first person shooting, as Mothergunship – a project from the makers of Tower of Guns – has been announced and looks to satisfy that adrenaline craving without reservation.

Melding the mad rush and chaos of bullet-hell with FPS, Mothergunship will see you fight your way through an army of ‘data-hoarding robotic alien invaders’, with the task of destroying ‘the Mothergunship’.

The game boasts boss fights, randomised enemies and levels, crafting of weapons (including mention of the possibility for a 12 barrelled shotgun that shoots rockets), and even full coop play which I’m hoping will include the option for local coop.

There’s definitely a Doom vibe going on here as well, particularly with the trailer, which I suppose is a good thing as Doom was amazing, though the trailer is a bit naff in my opinion.

Still, it looks exciting, and if the previous title by the studio, Tower of Guns, is anything to go by then we should be in for a treat.

There’s no release date as of yet, but the game is confirmed to be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

I started gaming with the release of the PS1 - Crash Bandicoot and Ridge Racer Revolution being the first 'real' games I ever set eyes on - and have been enthralled with the medium ever since. I particularly love strategy and horror games, the sort offered by titles such as Total War and Silent Hill, though I also have a soft spot for a good RPG. I studied Journalism at university in the hopes of progressing into writing about games, but my 'real job' is as a postman. You'll most likely find me covering indie games as I'm always on the look out for interesting little titles, and generally I stick to the PC and PS4 platforms. I'm not interested in MMOs or really any kind of online game, and I have an unusual and frankly worryingly expensive obsession with collecting gaming guide books, but aside from that I like to think I'm a well rounded average gamer.
