BLADE KITTEN Interview with Steve Stamatiadis
Today at the Push-Start HQ we were lucky enough to get an interview with Steve Stamatiadis creative director at Krome Studios. We asked a few questions that have been crossing our minds about the blade kitten title.

1. Why did you choose to name the game ‘Blade Kitten’?
Because that was the name of the comic which also fits the title well. People always like to say “I can’t take a game with that name seriously.” Good news, you’re not supposed to! Blade Kitten is all about being fun.

2. What is the main focus around ‘Blade Kitten’ (Multiplayer or Singleplayer) (Is the story affected on which mode you choose to play)
Blade Kitten is squarely focused on being an awesome single player game.
3. What locations will players encounter?
Well the game is set on a synthetic planetoid called “Hollow Wish”. You’ll explore the main city and its portside areas as well as crossing the moors. There are some older ruins to explore as well as some of the planet’s cave interiors. Quite a large mix really.
4. What chose you to make this an Xbox Live Arcade & PSN release and not a retail title?
Direct download is a better way of trying out games that are a bit outside of the norm. To be honest something like Blade Kitten is a hard sell to most publishers and retail outlets – they’re much more comfortable with the sort of games they currently release.
5. How long has the title been in production for?
It will be two years from the start of the project. In that time, we’ve done one and half game’s worth of levels for three different systems (PS3, 360 and PC).

6. What can you tell us about the characters?
The main characters are the heroine Kit Ballard, a catgirl bounty hunter with hot pink hair and a vivacious attitude. She’s joined by her sidekick Skiffy a strange little cute alien that’s along for the ride.
Kit has to deal with her rival Justice Kreel who is also after the same bounty as Kit: a local trouble maker called Terra-Li.
Most of them are new to the series, developed especially for the game.

7. How much will the title cost? (Microsoft points and PSN)
Blade Kitten will cost around £9.99 when it launches on XBLA, PSN and PC download
8. Any information on the PS3 Trophies/ Xbox 360 Achievements?
Yup the game features the standard number of Achievements and Trophies for a downloadable title. We’ve made sure that there’s a fair mix of easy and hard ones to get.
Thank you for your time Steve!
So there we have it, We got a lot of questions answered. We are glad that the price is only £9.99 which doesn’t seem too bad, heck it has aliens and kittens! Sounds good to me.
