EA’S latest installment in the Football series FIFA 11 has had an incredible first weekend on sale, shattering sales records, where 2.6 million copies across both Europe and North America have been shifted through October 2nd. As a result, this impressive figure makes it the fastest selling sports title ever, and up 29 percent over it’s predecessor FIFA 10, grossing $150 million already at the retail stage.

Meanwhile, during October 1st and 2nd, EA saw 11.3 million players connecting to play FIFA 11 online. To celebrate the outstanding success of the game, a treat has already been made for the fans to celebrate, which should prove music to FIFA fans worldwide.

FIFA 11’s Ultimate Team will be offered on the Xbox Live Marketplace for free when it releases in November, giving players a new game mode to try, involving them assembling a ideal dream team of players through attaining packs of cards and then taking them on the pitch. In previous installments such as FIFA 10 and FIFA 09, the Ultimate Team DLC pack would have set you back 400 Microsoft Points, but now it won’t cost anything.

One thing I missed about Fifa 10 was the momentum factor. It’s still in Fifa 11, but reduced greatly.
