Mark Ruffalo Signs 6 Picture Deal with Marvel
Mark Ruffalo, who joined the superhero ranks recently as Dr. Bruce Banner (aka The Incredible Hulk) on Avengers Assemble, has recently signed a deal for 6 feature films with Marvel, Collider reports. This indicates that there could be a future for the Hulk films, as the only of the main Avengers currently without a confirmed sequel for a previous individual movie (Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2 are all in the works).
Ruffalo replaced previous modern Hulks Eric Bana and Edward Norton for the ensemble of superheroes of Avengers Assemble, offering one of the most interesting performances of Hulk yet. Where the other superheroes are empowered by their extraordinary qualities (Tony Stark wears his suit almost 24/7 it seems, Thor feels powerless without his hammer Mjölnir and Steve Rogers is able to serve and protect on the front lines as he wanted to when beefed up during the experiment that made him into Captain America) Banner is tormented and weakened by his, feeling cornered by the need to control his emotions constantly and so Ruffalo gave Banner an interesting world-weary side that was not explored so much in the previous modern Hulk movies. Hopefully this would be explored further in future Hulk productions.
