Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock

A first look at Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins as the legendary director Alfred Hitchcock in Sacha Gervasi’s biopic Hitchcock has been revealed, Empire reports.  The film is to be released in 2013 and chronicles the making of Hitchcock’s 1960 classic Psycho, with Helen Mirren as Hitchcock’s wife Alma, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, Wallace Langham as Saul Bass and Ralph Macchio as Joe Stefano.

There have been many portrayals of Hitchcock already, including the upcoming drama The Girl, to be screened on BBC2 later this year (starring Toby Jones as the director), which studies the relationship between Hitchcock and The Birds’ Tippi Hedren. But with Hitchcock‘s calibre of talent, and the astonishing transformation portrayed in this first image, we can certainly expect magnificent performances in this biopic.
