5 Possible Directors for a Batman Reboot

As The Dark Knight Rises looms and brings Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy to a close, speculation is already buzzing as to whether or not there will be a reboot to strike cinemas whilst the iron’s hot in terms of popularity. But who could direct this reboot if it were to come to pass?

David Fincher

A director with a skill for developing deep characters and dark plots with delicious twists, he could create a stylish Batman reboot that would mess with the mind of the audience. With no superheroes works in his filmography, this would be a new challenge for the Oscar-nominated director.

Zack Snyder

As a man already in DC Comics’ studios as director of upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel, Snyder could well be a real contender to direct a new Batman film (depending on the success of his current project). Already having worked with graphic-novel icon Frank Miller on 300, he would already have a great foundation for a story (as Miller is famous for creating classic Batman comics Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns) if he could bring Miller on the project. As the director of Watchmen, he is also already experienced with superheroes.

Robert Rodriguez

Like Snyder, Rodriguez is already familiar with the comic-book style and has already worked with Miller on Sin City. Although unlike Snyder’s 300, Rodriguez understands dark characters and criminal city undergrounds with his work on Sin City.

Bryan Singer

With X-Men, X2 and Superman Returns under his belt, Singer is a director that understands the worlds of superheroes. Combining action and narrative well with great character depth, he would easily grasp the environments of Gotham – also understanding crime well as director of The Usual Suspects.

Matthew Vaughn

As the director of X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass, he knows superhero movies. As the director of Layer Cake and producer of Harry Brown, Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, he is seasoned in the world of crime thriller films. Put those two together and what have you got? A man well experienced enough to take on the world of Batman.
